Jun. 9--Thailand's mobile phone market is set to change its focus this year with operators looking more to increased revenue per user and offering new products than expanding their customer base, according to Grant Ferguson, chief financial officer of Total Access Communication (DTAC).

In the past two years, the mobile phone industry expanded over 100 percent a year as operators signed up new customers, many of them low-end users, by offering attractive price promotions.

But this year the focus will be on maintaining the customer base and boosting their usage by offering products that match their needs, he added.
