Jun. 6--Members of the Asia-Economic Co-operation (Apec) group have agreed to pursue an agreement that would result in mutual recognition of each other's food standards.
Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam will serve as "pathfinders" to work out an action plan for implementing the agreement.
"We see that developing countries today export to different countries throughout the world products of different quality and standards, and sometimes substandard goods," Thai Commerce Minister Adisai Bodharamik said at this week's meeting of Apec trade ministers in Khon Kaen.
