Jun. 2--Extensive hydrocarbon reserves have been discovered in a preliminary exploration at Phu Horm in Udon Thani, according to an official at
the Energy Ministry.
The US-based Amerada Hess (Thailand) Co, the concessionaire of the Phu Horm tract, has already drilled two wells, and is now drilling a third.
So far, the company has found sizeable natural gas reserves in the first well that can be exploited commercially, nothing in the second well and more reserves in the third well.
However, more exploration is needed to confirm the exact amount of the reserves and whether they are large enough to justify ...
