Jul. 7--Calbee Tanawat Co, the Thai-Japanese snack maker best known for its Calbee shrimp crackers, is invading the turf of Friendship Co, another Thai-Japanese group that dominates the local extruded green pea snack market.

Calbee Tanawat's Bun Bun will take on Friendship's Snack Jack, the pioneer and sole producer of this type of snack for five years, which generates annual sales of 300 million baht.

Hou Gin Whei, director of Calbee Tanawat, said it had invested about 40 million baht to install new machines to produce Bun Bun green pea extruded snacks at its factory in the Bang Poo Industrial Estate in Samut ...
