Jul. 2--The Commerce Ministry is confident of Thailand's rice exports reaching the target 7.3 million tonnes this year despite concerns among exporters over the possible drop in exports due to higher, less-competitive prices.
Rachane Potjanasuntorn, director-general of the ministry's Foreign Trade Department, said additional orders were expected in the second half of the year, including from Iran which has discussed buying 90,000 tonnes of rice from the Thai government.
