Jul. 1--Thailand's new derivatives market will begin with seed money of 300 million baht from the Stock Exchange of Thailand with operations expected to start next year, according to Prasarn Trairatvorakul, secretary-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The futures contract exchange would commence operations under a new agency called the Development Co and regulated by the SEC.
Dr Prasarn said Development Co could increase capital in the future through charges assessed on market participants, which are expected to include commercial banks, securities firms and asset management companies.
