Aug. 2--Thai fruit and vegetable traders will most likely need to find Chinese trading partners in order to export their products to the mainland and take advantage of zero import tariffs under the bilateral Free Trade Area scheme between the two countries.
Thanakorn Seriburi, the chairman of the Thailand-China Business Council, said his association was ready to act as a matchmaker for businessmen from the two countries for the purposes of selling their products.
Under the FTA, which takes effect on Oct 1, import tariffs on fruits and vegetables will be slashed to zero from 25-30 percent.
