Aug. 2--The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) hopes to complete the issuing of its unsecured bonds, worth up to 16.5 billion baht, by the end of next year, governor Chalit Ruengvisesh said yesterday.
The proceeds will be used to refinance foreign loans, mostly in US dollars and Japanese yen, worth 20 billion baht, out of a total debt of 29 billion.
The refinancing will reduce the portion of foreign debt to 40 percent at the end of this year and to 23 percent by the end of next year.
