Aug. 25--TAMPA, Fla.--Mayor Pam Iorio gave stern warnings on attendance when she appointed commissioners to the Tampa Housing Authority board in May.
But two who were reappointed to the board have continued to miss meetings, frustrating their five colleagues who have perfect attendance.
"I can't call for someone to resign or step down," new Commissioner Gerald White said. "But I feel if you can't perform, you need to step aside and let someone who can."
Since her reappointment, Sybil Kay Wells, publisher of the Florida Sentinel Bulletin, has missed three of the last four board meetings and a workshop. She was an hour late to the meeting she attended. She had the worst attendance rate last year as well, missing eight of 13 meetings.
