Aug. 4--Mitr Phol Sugar Corp plans to invest about 500 million baht in a paper plant in China that will use sugarcane fibre as the main raw material.

Chairman Soonthorn Vongkusolkit said that through the five sugar plants in China held by the Guangxi Nanning Sugar Group, it had enough cane fibre, a byproduct from raw sugar, to produce 30,000 to 40,000 tonnes of paper a year.

Guangxi Nanning Sugar is a joint venture set up 10 years ago which includes Mitr Phol, UK sugar broker Tate & Lyle, and Siam ...
