Sep. 4--Currituck County officials plan to spend $4 million for 10 acres of prime Outer Banks property, the latest tract in the county's land-banking program begun four years ago.
The property, located within the Corolla Shores subdivision near the Currituck Sound, is an investment for now without a specific purpose.
"There's going to be a need in every part of the county," said Paul O'Neal, chairman of the Currituck County Board of Commissioners.
In 1999, the board established a plan to buy parcels in every section of the county for a variety of purposes.
