Sep. 3--The cabinet yesterday approved a budget of 1.13 billion baht to establish the Bangkok Fashion Design Centre, an ambitious project that aims to make the country a regional fashion centre within five years.
The budget will be spent from 2004 to 2008 to furnish 4,523 square metres in the Sogo Amarin department store, which would become a venue for training and exhibitions of clothing, ornaments, gems, jewellery and leather products.
A 15-member committee with public and private-sector representatives will be selected to run the centre, which is expected to start operating in April, according to deputy government ...
