Sep. 3--Cheap loans or grants will be extended to more industries in the next fiscal year to encourage them to join the government-backed energy-saving drive.

The Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency Department under the Energy Ministry would allocate five billion baht in the next fiscal year to help industries upgrade equipment, said Industry Minister Somsak Thepsuthin.

Factories and buildings eligible for the financial assistance must consume electricity in excess of one megawatt.
