Sep. 3--After being the worst-hit casualty of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars), with a worldwide loss of HK$1.2 billion in the first six months of this year, Cathay Pacific Airways is seeing a major turnaround, particularly on the route between Bangkok and Hong Kong.
Yongyut Lujintanon, the Hong Kong airline's sales and marketing manager for Thailand and Burma, said the passenger load on the Bangkok-Hong Kong route has jumped to 85 percent for August and September bookings, from below 50 percent in the Sars period in April to July.
