Thai Finance Ministry Proposes Waiving of Joint Venture Law.

Sep. 1--The Finance Ministry plans to propose legal changes to waive the need for private companies receiving concessions to use state property to comply with the 1992 Joint Public-Private Venture Law.
Deputy Finance Minister Varathep Ratanakorn said the amendment would allow private firms to more quickly begin operations using public property.
He said that in the case of the Treasury Department, which oversees more than 12.5 million rai of public property nationwide, lease contracts with the private sector should not fall under the 1992 law, as the contracts already established defined benefits for the state with ...
