Oct. 4--Thai stocks dipped 1.53 percent yesterday as investors fretted about possible terrorist attacks during the Apec summit in Bangkok later this month.

The SET index closed at 558.34 points, down 8.68, in modest trade worth 21.46 billion baht. Leading the fall were the building and furnishing sector, down 1.3 percent, energy, down 1.16 percent and insurance, down 0.87 percent. The blue-chip SET50 index lost 1.23. percent to close at 34.49.
