Oct. 4--The Thai government pledges to move ahead with a joint economic co-operation strategy to improve the well-being of Thailand's three neighbours -- Cambodia, Laos and Burma -- and leverage economic growth among them.

The strategy was necessary as national security would be threatened if Thailand did nothing to improve the well-being of its neighbours, said Piyabutr Cholvijarn, assistant minister for commerce.
