Oct. 3--BMG (Thailand) Co and the local indie label Bakery Music Co have announced a joint marketing and distribution campaign with a focus on the provinces.

BMG is looking to boost its performance in Thailand's foreign music market, which has been hurt by rampant piracy.

Nine-year-old Bakery Music, in which an Australia-based BMG unit holds a 51 percent stake, will jointly work with BMG from product distribution to ringtone services.

BMG acquired a stake in Bakery Music in 2000 with the aim of playing a bigger role in the region. The remaining 49 percent in Bakery is held by the Sukosol family.
