Oct. 2--Eighteen state and commercial banks yesterday signed an agreement with 17 state agencies to participate in a government initiative to allow borrowers to use land deeds as collateral for loans.
The banks pledged to offer loans backed by land documents covering 42 million rai nationwide, as well as non-transferable land documents and lease contracts held by the public with agencies such as the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Treasury Department.
