Oct. 1--Finance Minister Suchart Jaovisidha says a recent ruling against the Excise Department in a case against Ford Motor should not be appealed.
The tax court recently sided with Ford that its one-tonne open-cab pickup should be taxed at a 3 percent rate, rather than the 12 percent rate for four-door pickups imposed by the Excise Department.
"In my personal view, we must simplify the tax code for the auto sector for the benefit of the public. ... The tax code should not be an impediment to the technological development of the industry," Mr Suchart said.
