STANFORD_Venus Williams had lost the first set of her quarterfinals match Friday afternoon against 10th-seeded Amy Frazier, double-faulting five times in the tie-break.

Now she was down 3-1 in the second set and appeared headed for an early and stunning exit at the Bank of the West Classic.

That's when the voice of an exasperated fan rang out from high in the stands at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

"You're the Wimbledon champion," he reminded Williams. "Come on!"

Williams heard the fan loud and clear. And she clearly understood his not-so-subtle message.
