Call it bribery, call it extortion, but the San Jose Sharks can call "Operation: Keeping Nabby" a success.

Swinging trades Monday with the NHL's two newest teams _ the Minnesota Wild and the Columbus Blue Jackets _ the Sharks have ensured that neither will select goalie Evgeni Nabokov in the expansion draft.

That was their primary concern regarding the expansion draft, which is June 23.

Technically, the Sharks received future considerations in their trades with Minnesota and Columbus, but that is merely a bookkeeping euphemism for the expansion teams to steer clear of Nabokov, who had a 2.17 goals-against average in 11 …
