2004 SEP 21 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Complete removal of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia lesions lowers the risk of recurrent post-surgical treatments due to high-risk human papillomaviruses, according to a study from Japan.

"Low-risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs) will be completely eradicated as long as most visible lesions are treated. However, it is uncertain whether this is also the case for high-risk HPVs that are capable of causing cervical cancer," said J. Fen and colleagues, Okayama University.
