FORT LAUDERDALE _ When Drew Bledsoe came into the NFL in 1993, he was pushed into the starting lineup almost immediately, forced to learn to play professional quarterback from the seat of his pants.
Seven years later, he's still on the seat of his pants.
After going down 55 times last season, Bledsoe has been sacked 15 times in three games this year, all losses, and not even a major makeover in the New England Patriots' passing game has helped.
New offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, who groomed the New York Jets' offense for quarterback Vinny Testaverde, installed a sprint-out package for Bledsoe, designed shorter routes and punched in some break-off routes for the receivers.
