SAN FRANCISCO_All that cool bravado usually exhibited by 49ers coach Steve Mariucci turned into a tempest of anger one month ago in the bowels of the Louisiana Superdome.
It was halftime, and it was time for some tough love. The 49ers staggered into the locker room trailing 28-0 to New Orleans. Up stepped Mariucci.
"He was saying like, `You suck. You're playing bad. You're getting your butts kicked,'" 49ers left guard Ray Brown recalled. "And we were hearing this from the guy that's supposed to love us the most. But he was honest."
