SHELTER MUTUAL INSURANCE CO. has named the managing director of a Spanish reinsurance company to its board of directors. Andres Jimenez, 49, of Madrid, Spain, replaces Columbia attorney David Oliver, who retired from the board. Oliver had served since 1987. Jimenez is chief executive officer of MAPFRE RE, with headquarters in Madrid and 10,000 employees worldwide. The MAPFRE group is the insurance market leader in Spain and is the largest foreign insurance group in Latin America. Jimenez joined MAPFRE Mutualidad De Seguros in 1966 and took military leave in 1972-73. Jimenez served as underwriting and reinsurance manager of the Marine Department of MAPFRE Industrial from July 1973 until October 1977. Jimenez became responsible for developing Spanish and Portuguese markets for MAPFRE Reinsurance Servicing Co. in 1977. MAPFRE RE was organized in 1982, and Jimenez served as technical and underwriting manager before being named general manager in 1987. Jimenez became managing director and chairman of the executive committee in May 1996. Jimenez also serves as chairman of the boards of MAPFRE RE subsidiaries in Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Luxembourg and Spain.
MISSOURI SCHOOL BOARDS' ASSOCIATION announces the following: Melissa Randol was promoted to associate executive director, school laws and issues management. Jan Watson is now the senior director for member relations. Keith Powell was promoted to the position of director of policy services and Kerry Crist recently joined MSBA as the director of leadership and board development.
BOB PERRY, COURT ADMINISTRATOR for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Columbia, is one of 49 new fellows who has completed Institute for Court Management's Court Executive Development Program. Graduation ceremonies were held at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington.
GOV. MEL CARNAHAN has re-appointed Larry Hendren of Columbia to the Missouri Board of Geologist Registration. At the May board meeting, he was elected chairman. Hendren is a licensed geologist and engineer and is the president of Engineering Surveys and Services.
