Jul. 11--Higher interest rates and gasoline prices locally have slowed new vehicle sales in Hamilton County during the first half of this year.
Sales of new cars, pickups and suburban utility vehicles were down 371 units or 4 percent during the period from January through June compared to the same time last year.
"I've seen bad. This isn't bad," said Ray Standefer, co-owner of Heritage Daewoo, located on Shallowford Road near Highway 153. "There has been a slight contraction, but sales remain very strong."
