Labor Department Orders Closed Halfmoon, N.Y., Financial Firm to Pay Wages.

Jul. 19--The state Department of Labor has ordered the defunct National Finance Corp. to pay $81,951 in back wages, vacation time and bonuses to employees who lost their jobs when the company collapsed several days before Christmas last year.

The June 29 order is the result of a state investigation into complaints by 88 former NFC employees, who said they had not been paid for the time they worked during Dec. 6-21, 1999. Twenty-four NFC workers said they had not been compensated for lost vacation days or promised bonuses during that same time period.
