Ada, Okla.-Based Legal Services Insurance Firm Posts Strong Results.
Jul. 18--A fast-growing membership base fueled strong second-quarter earnings for Ada-based Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc.
Pre-Paid's net income for the quarter ended June 30 was $12.7 million, a 28 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. Pre- Paid earned 56 cents per diluted share for the quarter, compared to 42 cents per diluted share for the same quarter in 1999.
For the six months that ended June 30, Pre-Paid's net earnings were $24 million, or $1.06 per share. That compares with earnings of $18.7 million, or 79 cents per share a year earlier.
