Net Income of Phillips Petroleum Is Up to $442 Million.

Jul. 28--Phillips Petroleum Co. on Thursday reported second quarter net income of $442 million, way up from $68 million in the same period a year ago.

Total revenues were $5.4 billion, up from $3.2 billion a year ago.

Net operating income -- excluding special items -- was $439 million, or $1.73 a share, compared with $108 million, or 43 cents a share, in the second quarter of 1999.

Net operating income included foreign currency losses of $18 million in the second quarter of 2000, compared with losses of $9 million for the same period in 1999.
