Aug. 7--TRAMMEL CROW CO.'S NEW AREA CHIEF TAKES A SHINE TO FLORIDA: The new leader of Trammell Crow Co. in Central and North Florida has been on the job about four months and has started to form some opinions about his new territory.
He likes what he sees.
Curt Grantham came to Orlando from Memphis, where he also ran Crow operations.
Orlando has great potential, he thinks. Grantham likes the fact that FedEx Corp. is developing a 160,000-square-foot hub at Orlando International Airport.
In Memphis, FedEx uses an astounding 9 million square feet of space, both at the airport and in surrounding areas. The delivery company encourages businesses to locate near its hubs, Grantham said.
"They work like an extra arm of the chamber of commerce," he said. Orlando is a natural to be the distribution center for Florida because of its central location. However, he sees a lot of industrial activity continuing to migrate west to Lake County and into northeast Polk County…
