Aug. 13--Randy Goldsmith has a pretty simple philosophy when it comes to making capital available for early-stage businesses.
"You can never have too much money," said Goldsmith, the executive director of the Oklahoma Technology Commercialization Center.
With that in mind came the creation of the Oklahoma Capital Network. The network is a group of "angel investors" who have registered in a database along with the state's venture capital firms. Goldsmith said the network consists of 44 groups.
"Those groups are composed of more than 300 individuals of high net worth and whose aggregate net worth is over $2 billion," Goldsmith said.
The goal of the network is to provide a place where early-stage companies have access to cash, and investment groups have access to early-stage investment opportunities.
Goldsmith said many early-stage companies go through a similar financing process that includes several stages.
