Aug. 30--A small Texas company has become the third unregulated Georgia natural gas marketer to declare bankruptcy.

Southeastern States Energy blamed billing problems for its petition, filed in federal bankruptcy court in Houston late Monday. "We're self-funded, and I'm out of money," Beth Perry Sewell, chief executive, said Tuesday.

The marketer will continue serving its 10,000 Georgia customers without interruption, she said. "It's business as usual."

Southeastern, one of 12 natural gas marketers certified in Georgia, serves less than 1 percent of the state market of 1.5 million customers. About 6,000 Southeastern …
