Aug. 29--Conoco wants to sell more than just gasoline in Chattanooga.

The nation's 5th biggest oil company is negotiating to sell its 28 service stations in metropolitan Chattanooga.

The Conoco name and brand will remain with the new owners, however. But Conoco officials said Monday the company wants to sell its gas through wholesale distributors, rather than its own retail stations in the Southeast.

"We're investing elsewhere in the country," Conoco spokesman Lynn Hohensee said. "It's still our intend to grow our presence in Tennessee and Georgia, but we want to do that through wholesale marketers rather than …
