Sep. 12--Streetside Records has found a new home.

Randy Davis, president of the St. Louis-based chain, signed a lease yesterday to move into a new building under development by the Columbia Cemetery Association at 401 S. Providence Road, the former Grill & Chill location next to Southside Liquors.

Streetside is being forced to vacate its current leasehold at Broadway and Providence Road to make way for a Walgreens drug store, which is expected to open in November 2001.

Davis said he was looking for a downtown location with ample parking that wasn't too far from the current location. The new building will be 25 percent larger -- 6,100 square feet -- with a glass front and a "more friendly shopping environment," he said.

"The new store will be a little dressed up from what it is now," Davis said, "but don't expect anything too fancy. It's still a record store."
