Atlanta-Based Credit Card, Billing Firm Won't Cut Local Jobs.

Sep. 28--No jobs will be cut in Atlanta when First Data eliminates about 1,000 positions at two subsidiaries in the next six months to a year, officials said Wednesday.
This is the latest in First Data's continuing efforts to reduce its work force. In July the Atlanta-based credit card payments and billing company announced it would cut about 1,940 jobs.
First Data now employs about 31,000 people, with 700 in the 20-county Atlanta area.
The latest cuts --- about 725 at FDRLimited in Europe and 280 at First Data Resources in the United States --- will help streamline First Data's debit and credit card transaction …
