Oklahoma City Insurance Firm to Get 128,000 Policies of Beleaguered Rival.

Sep. 27--After numerous twists and turns, it looks as though the fate of Mid-Continent Life Insurance finally has been determined.

Oklahoma County District Judge Noma Gurich on Tuesday approved the transfer of the beleaguered insurer's 128,000 policies to Oklahoma City's American Fidelity -- a plan endorsed by Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher, Mid- Continent's acting receiver.

Fisher was gratified by the decision.

"This has been probably the greatest historic day in my term as insurance commissioner," Fisher said. "There is nothing to stand in the way now. We're just going to work out the details now."
