Oct. 12--The state's Storage Tank Advisory Council voted 7-0 Wednesday to oppose any legislation that permits individual companies to stop contributing to a special fund that pays for cleaning up old petroleum storage tank sites.
Phillips Petroleum of Bartlesville has been seeking $3.9 million from the state for costs of cleaning contaminated tank sites.
The storage tank division of the state Corporation Commission has paid some of the claims but says the remainder of the claims are not eligible for payment from the state's storage tank indemnity fund.
