When it comes to election time, New Mexico is a fine place to hunt for vast operations working beyond the pale of mere grass-roots politicking.
Start with this month's biggest political story: the voter identification lawsuits that have come and gone.
Republicans leading the lawsuit in Albuquerque lost their case this week and then won one in Chaves County. But it's not just the near-loss here and the loss in Roswell that has some Democrats quaking.
No less a luminary than New Mexico Democratic Party Chairman John Wertheim says there is more to the case than mere identification of voters.
