Comcast, Disney Dispute May Lead to Blackout on Philadelphia-Area ABC Station.

Oct. 20--Philadelphia's most popular news station, WPVI Channel 6, could be replaced with static on many area television sets Monday morning if cable giant Comcast Corp. and the Walt Disney Co. can't repair a relationship that has gone publicly sour.

"We're afraid this is not going in a good direction," Dave Davis, WPVI general manager, said yesterday. "Apparently Comcast is preparing for life without Channel 6. That concerns us."

Comcast, which has about 1.5 million cable subscribers in the region, and Disney, which owns ABC, last week agreed to a one-week extension keeping WPVI, ABC's most successful affiliate, on Comcast's systems at least through this Sunday. Comcast cannot carry ABC stations without the network's …
