Acquisitive Fidelity National Financial Inc. emerged as the top bidder for InterCept Inc., agreeing Thursday, Sept. 9, to pay $408 million for the financial data processing firm.
Terms call for Fidelity National to pay $18.90 a share for InterCept in cash or in a combination of cash and Fidelity stock. The purchase price represents an 8% premium to InterCept's closing share price on Wednesday.
"It's a great deal for InterCept and their shareholders," said Stephen Laws, research analyst with W.R. Hambrecht + Co. "I think they got as much for the company as they could."
