BMW enthusiasts are reluctant to embrace the shape of the new 3 Series, but the car's increased performance may overcome its polarizing design.
Where older BMWs quietly declared their presence with as few lines as necessary, Bangle's overt designs just won't shut up. The overall shape and proportions of these cars may be graceful, but the brand is now riddled with swirls and extraneous details.

BMW's past success was driven by distinctive styling, great performance and an interior made for driving. The performance is still present, but the styling is too aggressive and the interior is designed for gadgets and appearance.

The new 3 is not as ugly as the 5 Series and 7 Series. But when that's the best thing that can be said of the world's best sports sedan, it's time to look for a new leader.
