Winter fantasy in works for Marion Square AH: Charleston plans to open ice skating rink between Thanksgiving, New Year's.

As summer draws to a close and stores stock up for Halloween, Charleston is preparing for Christmas with plans for a 5,400-square-foot ice skating rink at Marion Square, intended to complement park activities and draw holiday shoppers downtown.

The city has signed a letter of intent with Atlanta-based Creative Marketing Strategies, which proposes to buy and operate the temporary rink from roughly Thanksgiving through New Year's for each of the next three years, sharing net profits with the city.
