Costly accidents
In response to the Aug. 20 letter by the individual who appeared to be strongly against a state motorcycle helmet law, I would like him to know that I will steadfastly stand by all motorcyclists' constitutional right to split their heads wide open on an asphalt road, as long as it doesn't cost me any money.
I'm guessing that this person isn't aware of the fact that one of the reasons certain states have enacted mandatory helmet laws is because, bearing in mind that most injuries to motorcycle riders are to their legs and heads, too many riders injured as a result of not having a helmet on were costing those states millions of dollars a year …
