NEWARK, Ohio _ Their nominating conventions behind them, President Bush and John Kerry shot out on a final 60-day campaign sprint that promises to be fast, frenzied and furious.
As Bush sought to build momentum from his acceptance speech Thursday night in New York, Kerry continued his stinging counterattack against Republicans, whom he charged have impugned his patriotism and military service in Vietnam.
"Every time they open their mouths, they can't tell the truth," Kerry told supporters at the start of a two-day bus trip in Ohio, a swing state that could tip the election.
Bush also visited Ohio and three other battlegrounds _ Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Iowa _ to tout his new second-term agenda of opportunity and ownership.
