Hair stem cells could treat burns
U.S. scientists found adult stem cells deep inside the hair follicles of mice that rebuild hair and stretches of skin and glands. The researchers say the cells may exist in human hair, too, and could lead to new treatments for a variety of conditions, from skin burns to baldness, says the journal Cell. The stem cells multiplied in lab dishes and grew hair and skin when grafted onto mice.
