Best Buy Q2 comps miss views
The consumer electronics retailer's same-store sales rose 4.3%, missing views of a 5.4% increase, while total sales rose 13% to $6.07 bill. Best Buy was boosted by its high-end Magnolia Audio Video stores; its comps were up 6.8% against Best Buy U.S. stores' 4.4% gain. The chain's international comps rose 3%. Best Buy forecast making 51-53 cents a share ex items in Q2 against views of 50 cents. Shares rose 5% to 49.
J.C. Penney's comps rise 3.8%
The department store's same-store sales in August missed views of a 4.8% gain despite strong sales in the juniors, girls and shoe departments.
