Japanese 'deserve US-style access' under free trade area, researcher says.

Sep. 3--Thailand should open its services sector for Japan under the Thai-Japanese free trade area (FTA) framework to the same level enjoyed by investors from the United States, according to Deunden Nikomborirak, a researcher at the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI).
"Don't panic about services liberalisation because Thailand has opened this sector broadly to American firms. Why does the Thai government protect only American businessmen from competition of other foreign businessmen?" Ms Deunden said at a seminar on the Thailand-Japan FTA yesterday.
