Sep. 3--The Stock Exchange of Thailand has expressed its cautious support for a move by brokers calling for the 10 percent collateral rule to be permanently waived for small retail investors.
Stock market players currently trading more than one million baht worth of securities per day must pledge cash or securities equal to 10 percent of their trading lines as collateral. The rule, aimed at limiting potential credit and settlement risk in the securities sector, is to be extended to cover all investor accounts starting Jan 1.
