Sep. 3--Standard regulations for gold traders will require them to market gold ornaments with 96.5 percent gold content only, starting next month.
The Gold Traders Association and the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) will jointly enforce the new standard.
Anuwat Dharamadhaj, the OCPB secretary-general, said authorities had received complaints from consumers for years that a number of local gold traders had been distributing gold ornaments with gold content between 91 percent and 94 percent.
